10 players from Purvanchal have been selected in the 14th Senior National Hockey Competition being held in Chennai. These also include Olympians Lalit Upadhyay, Rajkumar Pal.

In the 14th Senior National Hockey Competition being held in Chennai, eight players from Varanasi and two from Karampur, Ghazipur have been selected in the senior team of Uttar Pradesh. Which includes Olympian Lalit Upadhyay, Rajkumar Pal and international hockey players Vishnukant Singh, Vishal Singh, Prashant Chauhan, Atuldeep, Manish Yadav, Chandan Singh, Gopi and Jaiprakash.

Hockey Varanasi President Dr. AK Singh, Hockey Varanasi Secretary KB Rawat and Uttar Pradesh Hockey Secretary Dr. RP Singh congratulated the players.
