10 thousand people shifted before missile test in Balasore Odisha


Odisha Missile Test: The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) will conduct a missile test on Wednesday (July 24) in Balasore, Odisha. Before the missile test, more than 10,000 people from 10 villages have been temporarily shifted to other places, an official said.

A defence source said on Tuesday (23 July) that the DRDO has also completed the necessary preparations for the missile test at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) located in Chandipur. It was told that this test will be done from the launch site number-3 of ITR.

People of 10 villages were transferred

According to news agency PTI, a revenue official said that the Balasore district administration has completed the arrangements to temporarily transfer 10,581 people from 10 villages located within a radius of 3.5 km of the launch site before the missile test. It was told that in this regard, arrangements are also being made to provide adequate compensation to the affected people as a security measure.

The revenue official said that the district administration held a preparatory meeting on Tuesday in the presence of District Magistrate Ashish Thackeray and Superintendent of Police Sagarika Nath to smoothly transfer the people living in the area to the nearby temporary shelter centers. The district administration has asked the people of these villages to leave their homes by 4 am on Wednesday and stay in the camp till the announcement is made after the testing is over.

Compensation amount will be deposited in the bank account

The officer said that the compensation amount fixed for the people coming to the camp will be deposited in their bank accounts. The District Revenue Officer said that the Balasore district administration has made arrangements for the people to stay in nearby schools, multipurpose cyclone rehabilitation centers and temporary tents.

10 officers will be deployed in each camp

The administration is taking full vigilance regarding security in the missile test area. In this regard, at least 10 government officials have been deployed in each camp to help the people. Also, 22 police squads (nine personnel in one squad) have been deployed to help the people in the camps.

What did people allege?

There is anger among the people who are being transferred due to missile testing. They say that the administration is giving us less compensation. In this regard, the villagers have also submitted a memorandum to ADM Balasore. In fact, people have alleged that the compensation amount being given to them has not been changed for a long time.
