If aided madrassas are closed following the order of Allahabad High Court regarding Uttar Pradesh Madrassa Education Board Act, then the livelihood of about 10,200 working teachers and non-teaching staff will be in danger.

At present, there are about 16,460 madrassas of Tahtania class 1 to 5, Faukania class 5 to 8 and Aliya and higher Aliya level i.e. high school or above recognized by the Madrasa Education Council. Of these, there are a total of 560 madrassas subsidized by the government. In these madrassas, studies are conducted at Munshi-Maulvi High School equivalent, Aalim Inter equivalent, Kamil Graduation and Fazil Post-Graduation equivalent.

The High Court has declared the Madrasa Act made in 2004 to operate Madrasas as unconstitutional. After this, the jobs of teachers and employees teaching in madrassas are at stake.

Dark shadow over the future of 13 lakh students of madrassas

Registrar of Madrasa Education Council, Dr. Priyanka Awasthi said that 13 lakh 83 thousand 107 students are getting education in 16,460 madrasas recognized by the Madrasa Board. At the same time, 1 lakh 92 thousand 317 students are getting education in the 560 aided madrassas included in these. After the order of the High Court, the future of more than 13 lakh students getting education in madrasas has become dark.
