Swachhta Seva Pakhwada will once again begin in Uttar Pradesh from September 17. Its theme is ‘Swabhaav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata’. Two municipal corporations, five Nagar Palika Parishads and 10 Nagar Panchayats that perform well during the fortnight will be awarded. The Chief Minister has directed the Urban Development Department to run a continuous cleanliness drive for 155 hours.
Minister of Urban Development Department AK Sharma reviewed the preparations for organizing the Swachhata Pakhwada on Wednesday. He said that on the occasion of completion of ten years of Swachh Bharat Mission, public participation should be ensured on a large scale and activities like cyclothon, marathon etc. should be organized.
He said that no excuse of lack of resources will be accepted during the campaign. Instructions have been given to monitor cleanliness from the directorate level. Regarding the lack of resources, local body director Anuj Jha told the minister that recently 490 vehicles have been given to various urban bodies. The bodies which lack resources should send their proposals, resources will be made available to them.
