Recently ASER 2023 ‘Beyond Basics’ The survey report has come out in which shocking revelations have been made. In fact, this report published on Wednesday has revealed that 86.8 percent of children aged between 14 to 18 years are in school, but 25 percent of them are such children who find difficulty in reading second class books in their own regional language.

When basic mathematics skills were evaluated, the report revealed that 85 percent of children could measure length starting from 0, but if the starting point was changed, then 39 percent of them could not measure length. .

More than half of the students are not able to do division
It has also come to light in the report that more than half of these students are not able to do division. While you expect children of third to fourth class to answer the questions, only 43.3 percent of children aged 14 to 18 years are able to solve such questions correctly. 

Survey conducted in 26 states
This survey has been conducted in 28 districts of 26 states. In which it was also revealed that only 28.1 percent are women who are likely to make their career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). At the same time, there are 36.3 percent boys of the same age group who have no interest in these subjects.

This many children can read English
According to the report, there are 57.3 percent children who can read English sentences, but only 73.5 percent of them can tell their meaning. In this survey, girls were ahead of boys in reading books in their regional language but boys were ahead in reading mathematics and English.

ASER is a nationwide citizen-led household survey that surveys and informs the schooling and learning status of children in rural India.
