260 people got burnt due to firecrackers and lamps on Diwali night. The injured were brought to other hospitals including AIIMS, Safdarjung, Ram Manohar Lohia, Loknayak, GTB, DDU, Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Lady Hardinge, Sanjay Gandhi, Babu Jagjivan Ram. The largest number of injured were children. At the same time, many patients were seriously injured and even had to undergo surgery. Many had to be admitted to ICU.
According to the Burn and Plastic Surgery Department of Safdarjung Hospital, 117 patients arrived at the hospital burnt due to firecrackers. 102 patients were discharged after first aid in OPD, while 15 patients were seriously injured. Of these, 86 people were injured by firecrackers, while 31 patients were burnt to death by lamps and reached the hospital. 18 patients had come to the hospital on October 30. Here, according to the Burn and Plastic Surgery Department of AIIMS, 48 patients came to the hospital on Diwali night. Of these, 19 patients had to be admitted to ICU. Among the seriously injured patients were three children, 11 teenagers, three young men and two elderly people. 32 patients were burnt by firecrackers.
Dr. Sameek Bhattacharya, head of the burn and plastic surgery department of RML Hospital, said that 44 patients came to the hospital. Most of the patients’ faces and hands were burnt, while one patient’s eyes were affected. Of the injured, 38 were men, while 6 were women. Dr. Ritu Saxena, head of the emergency department of Loknayak Hospital, said that 19 patients came to the hospital. 10 to 35 patients also came to GTB, DDU, Baba Saheb Ambedkar and other hospitals for treatment.
Fire broke out at 320 places on Diwali, 10 year record broken
This time the incidents of fire on Diwali broke the record of the last 10 years. Fire broke out at 320 places in Delhi. During this period 12 people got burnt. According to the fire department, after 11 pm, maximum number of fires were reported from 84 places. Firemen were seen running here and there throughout the night. According to the department’s DG Atul Garg, 158 emergency calls of fire were received between midnight and 6 am. 192 incidents occurred between 5 pm and midnight. In total there were 320 incidents.
Six people burnt in the same house
In Bindapur, six people of the same family got burnt due to fire in their house caused by firecrackers. Everyone was brought to RML Hospital. In another case, two other patients also came to the hospital who were putting explosives in the pipe.
