Savitribai Phule
Savitribai Phule’s contribution as India’s first female teacher has been important in the field of education. Born in a Dalit family in Maharashtra, Savitribai Phule was the first lady teacher, social reformer and Marathi poet. He had to face a lot of opposition from the society for teaching girls. Many times the contractors of the society also pelted stones at them.
In the 18th century, when it was rare for women to go to school, they gave women the right to education. Savitribai Phule, along with her husband social worker Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, built a school for girls in the year 1848. He died on 10 March 1897.
Vimla Kaul
Vimla Kaul showed charisma at that age when people feel that the evening of life has come, now just have to wait for the end of the day. At the age of 81, Vimla Kaul gave free education to poor children. The name of his school is Guldasta where children are taught for free and yoga and dance are also taught. Poor children of Delhi come to study in this school. Vimla Kaul retired as a teacher, but she never stopped teaching. Initially there were many problems in running the school but this process did not stop.
Chandraprabha Saikiani
Chandraprabha Saikiyani was born in Assam. Apart from the contribution he made for the education of women, his name is also famous for removing the purdah system from Assam. At the age of 13, Chandraprabha Saikiyani opened a school for the girls of her village and became a teacher at the same age. In those days there was discrimination against girls at the level of education, so she raised her voice against it. Growing up, Chandraprabha became a social worker.
asima chatterjee
Asima Chatterjee was the first woman scientist to earn a doctorate in science. She was a successful organic chemist and in the 20th century, when women were not in the field of science, she hoisted her flag. Bengal-born Asima Chatterjee was the first woman to be elected as the General President of the Indian Science Congress.
In the 1940s, she worked as the head of the chemistry subject at Lady Brabourne College, Calcutta. Asima Chatterjee has helped in many research works like her invaluable contribution in the field of natural products chemistry.
