5 KM long tunnel… 10 feet skeleton and small gold statues, this temple and pond are no less than a mystery


Settlement: The historic Bhuiladih (Bhuleshvar Nath) mound located in Mahuadabar Gram Panchayat of Gaur Vikas Khand of the district holds the mysteries of ancient times. This historic site is spread over about 200 acres. According to the villagers, when the pond was excavated, a paved road, sakhu saplings and brick walls were found about 15 to 20 feet below, which shows the ancient importance of this place.

An ancient Shiva temple is situated near the pond, near which there is a mysterious tunnel. People believe that this tunnel is about 5 kilometers long. The entrance of the tunnel was closed with bricks and stones 40 feet below, while an iron gate has been installed at the main entrance outside. Many mysterious stories are prevalent in the area around this tunnel and temple, which makes this place even more mysterious.

History of the pond and mound
It is believed that in 1250 AD, people of Tharu community resided in this area and used to worship here. During the excavation of the mound many years ago, long swords and 10 feet long skeletons were found here. Apart from this, small gold statues and coins were also found in the excavation. According to the team led by Gorakhpur’s regional archaeological officer Narsingh, the pieces of bricks and utensils found here are from the sixth century BC to 1250 AD, which indicates that this place must have been a city 2600 years ago.

Villagers’ beliefs and experiences
Villager Ram Asare says that the soil of this pond was used by the king to build the mound. He also said that a gold boat used to float in the pond at night, in which the king, queen, and fairies used to travel. A huge amount of gold and silver is believed to be hidden in the Shiva temple.

what is the story
A few years ago, when a barber found gold and silver in a pot while ploughing, his bullock died and magical sounds started coming from the treasure. Hearing this, the barber put the treasure back where he had found it. The villagers believe that more big bricks and foundations of houses can be found during the excavation, which can further increase the antiquity and importance of this site.
