A fine of Rs 60 lakh has been imposed on the operating firm Triveni Engineering for negligence in the operation of the water purification plant at Sikandra Waterworks in Agra. The Municipal Commissioner had inspected the Sikandra plant last fortnight.

Negligence is being shown in the operation of the purification plant at the Sikandra Waterworks of the Jalkal Department. Municipal Commissioner Ankit Khandelwal inspected and ordered strict action. After which Jalkal General Manager Kuldeep Singh has imposed a fine of Rs 60 lakh on Triveni Engineering.

Triveni Engineering is being paid Rs 1.50 crore every month. Due to negligence and flaws in operations, 10 per cent will be deducted from its payment every month. In this way, Rs 15 lakh will be deducted every month. The total deduction on the bills from January to April will be Rs 60 lakh. When the bill for May arrives, 10 per cent will be deducted on it too.

Jalkal General Manager Kuldeep Singh said that this fine has been imposed in line with the instructions received during the inspection by the Municipal Commissioner. The plant’s operation will be inspected again. If no improvement is found, action will be taken again.
