Commissioner Datuk Ramli Mohd Yusof, director of Malaysia’s Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department, put this matter before the world on 17 December. The woman was in contact with a man claiming to be an American businessman on Facebook since October 2017. He soon won the woman’s trust and his online relationship with the 67-year-old woman started. He himself told about shifting to Malaysia and the woman asked for help of about Rs 90 thousand. Gradually, he kept asking for money on new pretexts and the woman deposited about Rs 4.4 crore in 50 different accounts in a total of 306 times.
Woman robbed in the pursuit of love
He had borrowed a large amount of this money from friends and family and gave it to the person. The surprising thing was that she was ready to pay so much money to a woman whom she had never met and had not even talked to over video call. Finally, after 7 years, when she talked to her friend about this, she said that she had become a victim of a scam. Through this incident, Malaysian Police has advised people to be cautious in such relationships and said that they should be careful in forming relationships.
