A statement issued on Telegram by ISIS-affiliated news agency Amaq said, “Our fighters attacked a large gathering of Christians on the outskirts of the Russian capital Moscow, killing many people, injuring many and There was also massive destruction at the site.” However, no evidence was provided by ISIS to support this claim.

At the time of the attack, five people had opened fire and also thrown bombs at the Crocus City Hall concert venue in Moscow that was targeted. An atmosphere of chaos had developed after the attack. According to the report of American news website CNN, after firing and throwing bombs, the attackers fled in a white Renault car, while Russia 24 reported that the roof of the concert hall partially collapsed. At the same time, an officer of the US Intelligence Department told the news agency Associated Press that US Intelligence agencies came to know that the attack was being planned by ISIS in Afghanistan.
