Where is this special laddu made
This laddu is made in the kitchen of the temple. This kitchen is called ‘Potu’. Let us tell you that this laddu also has a GI tag (Geographical Indication). In such a situation, only the temple has the patent for making this laddu. According to the news, more than 8 lakh laddus are prepared here every day. It is believed that the darshan of Tirupati Balaji is incomplete without taking this laddu as prasad.

Shapes and types of laddu

Proktam Laddu- This laddu is small in size, which is regularly distributed to the pilgrims visiting the temple. One laddu weighs about 40 grams. This laddu is given free to everyone as prasad after finishing the darshan and coming out of the temple.

Asthanam Laddu- This laddu is prepared on special festivals, its size is slightly bigger than the Proktam laddu. One laddu weighs 175 grams, which costs Rs 50. Almonds, cashews and saffron are used a lot to make it.

Kalyanotsavam Laddoo- These laddus are distributed to pilgrims who participate in Arjitha Seva and Kalyanotsavam. This laddu is in the highest demand. However, it is made in lesser numbers compared to other laddus. The shelf life of this laddu is 15 days and it is also the most expensive. One laddu weighs about 750 grams, which costs Rs 200.

How are these special laddus made?
More than 600 cooks work in the Potu kitchen to make this special laddu. These laddus are made using a special method. Many types of dry fruits like cashew nuts, almonds, raisins, cardamom, sugar candy, gram flour, pure ghee, milk etc. are added to it. According to reports, 700 kg of cashew nuts, 10 tonnes of gram flour, three to four hundred litres of ghee, ten tonnes of sugar, about 540 kg of raisins etc. are needed daily to make laddus.

Method
A batter of gram flour is prepared. Ghee is heated in a pan. Then gram flour is added like boondi and fried till it becomes golden brown. Remove it from ghee. Dry fruits like cashews, almonds are also lightly roasted in ghee. Sugar syrup is prepared. Add cardamom powder to it. Boondi is coarsely ground. Then put it in the syrup. Also add roasted dry fruits, raisins, sugar candy and mix well. Now give it the shape of a laddu. This laddu is prepared in almost the same way.
