Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday on the flood situation in Assam. He assured him of all possible help to the people in this difficult time. The Chief Minister thanked Shah for expressing concern and assuring cooperation.

Situation worsened due to floods in Assam

Amit Shah posted on ‘X’, “Due to heavy rains, flood situation has arisen in Assam. (I) spoke to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma about the current situation.” He said that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (ADRF) are working on a war footing and providing relief and rescue to the affected people.

It is worth noting that Assam is in the grip of severe floods. More than 24.50 lakh people have been affected by floods in 30 districts of the state. 64 people have lost their lives in the state due to floods, storms and landslides. There is no hope of getting relief in the near future due to heavy rains in the state.
