On the occasion of Independence Day, it has been announced that 17 policemen of the state police will be awarded the President’s gallantry medal. Apart from this, Assistant Deputy Controller Banwari Lal in civil security has also been awarded the gallantry medal. 4 policemen have been awarded the President’s medal for distinguished service and 70 for commendable services.
Three personnel of Home Guard and Civil Defence have been awarded the President’s Gallantry Medal for distinguished service and 11 personnel have been awarded the President’s Medal for meritorious service. Three personnel of the Fire Service have also received the President’s Medal for meritorious service.
Let us tell you that six members of the STF team who killed Asad, son of mafia Atiq Ahmed, who carried out the Umesh Pal murder case in Prayagraj, and shooter Ghulam in an encounter in Jhansi on 13 April 2023, have been awarded the President’s Gallantry Medal. These include Deputy SP Navendu Kumar, Vimal Kumar Singh, Inspector Gyanendra Kumar Rai, Anil Kumar Singh, Chief Constable Sunil Kumar and Sushil Kumar who led the team.
Similarly, four members of the STF team, Inspector Jitendra Kumar Singh, Sub Inspector Rakesh Kumar Singh Chauhan, Head Constable Anil Kumar and Hariom, who killed Meharbhan alias Kallu, a criminal with a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, who had looted Rs 65 lakh from the cashier of VRF Foods Limited of Bulandshahr in Noida, in an encounter in Ghaziabad on 17 July 2019, have been awarded the President’s Gallantry Medal.
