Who is Rakhi?
Rakhi was born in a Bengali family on 15 August 1947 in Nadia district of West Bengal. Rakhi’s birth a few hours after India’s independence brought happiness to her home. Her father ran a shoe business in Maherpur, East Bengal (now Bangladesh). Rakhi belonged to a wealthy family and studied in a convent school. However, even after independence, her family remained in West Bengal, a part of India.

In the year 1967, 20-year-old Rakhee did her first Bengali film named ‘Bondu Boron Aur Baghini’. After this she came to Mumbai and after almost 2 years of coming, she got Rajshri Production’s film ‘Jeevan Mrityu’ (1970) and Dharmendra was opposite her in it. After this she did the film Sharmilee with Shashi Kapoor which was a superhit.
Then she became the new lead actress of the industry by doing films like ‘Laal Patthar’ and ‘Paras’. Rakhi has done about 45 films in her film career. How did Rakhi and Gulzar’s relationship break?
At the age of 16, Rakhee married film director Ajay Biswas. It was an arranged marriage but the marriage broke after 2 years. Rakhee’s name was now associated with the film industry and she started working there. During this time, Rakhee met film lyricist Gulzar, they fell in love and got married in 1973 and later they had a daughter Meghna. But after having a daughter, their paths also separated.
According to media reports, it was around 1975 when he went to Kashmir for the shooting of the film Aandhi. At the wrap-up party of this film, Sanjeev Kumar drank a lot and was repeatedly trying to go near Suchitra Sen. But Gulzar handled the situation and went to drop Suchitra Sen, who was slightly drunk, to her room. Meanwhile, Rakhi and Gulzar had a fight over something and Rakhi went to Kashmir to surprise Gulzar to convince him.
When she came to know that Gulzar was in Suchitra’s room, she herself was surprised to see both of them in the same room. After this, both of them had a lot of fights and they started living separately without getting divorced. However, now after many years, their pictures come out but Rakhi has started staying completely away from the limelight.
