ISRO launches sslv d3 rocket with eos8 satellite SR 0 DEMOSAT Satellite will help in disaster and water management

ISRO Launch of SSLV-D3: ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) is going to launch SSLV-D3 rocket from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota at 9:17 am on August 16, 2024. Under this mission, the country’s new Earth Observation Satellite EOS-8 and a small satellite SR-0 DEMOSAT will be launched. Both these satellites will be installed in a circular orbit located at an altitude of 475 kilometers from the Earth. This launch is being considered historic, let’s know why?

ISRO’s SSLV-D3 rocket launch is historic as it is a crucial mission to place two important satellites, EOS-8 and SR-0 DEMOSAT, in low Earth orbit. This is the third flight of SSLV and could prove to be an important milestone for India’s small satellite launch industry. Moreover, the successful launch and operation of EOS-8 and SR-0 DEMOSAT will further strengthen India’s self-reliance in space technology, which is an important contribution to the global space competition.

Help will be provided in agriculture, wildlife and disasters

The SSLV-D3 rocket can send satellites weighing up to 500 kg into low earth orbit below 500 km or send satellites weighing 300 kg into sun synchronous orbit. The height of this orbit is above 500 km. In this launch, it will go up to a height of 475 km. After reaching there, it will release the satellite.

  • EOS-8 Satellite: It is an Earth observation satellite, whose purpose is to monitor the earth’s surface and collect important data. It will help in important activities like agriculture, wildlife monitoring, water resource management, and disaster management.

  • SR-0 DEMOSAT: This is a small satellite which is being sent as a passenger satellite. Its purpose is to provide a platform for testing new technologies.
