On Tuesday, Gujaini police in Kanpur arrested two inter-state drug smugglers. Police recovered 16.174 kg of ganja from them. The arrested accused have been identified as Rajendra Pratap Singh alias Munna, resident of Bansgaon Barabanki and Shivkant alias Shiva, resident of Rajapur Barabanki. ADCP South Ankita Sharma said that the police team led by Gujaini police station in-charge Vinay Tiwari caught both the smugglers near Gujaini footover bridge. These accused were going to Mathura with ganja from Koraput area of Odisha.
These accused were caught while waiting for a ride on the way. They had hidden the ganja in a trolley and a backpack. Cases are also registered against both the smugglers in Odisha and Shivgarh of Raebareli in UP. Both have gone to jail several times in Odisha in the case of drug smuggling. Apart from this, the smugglers have supplied ganja in Lucknow, Meerut, Mathura, Unnao, Kanpur Nagar and many other districts.
