Whereas, America is at second place. Here around 23 lakh people are victims of cancer. India is at third place. More than 14 lakh people in India are victims of cancer.

The number of cancer cases in India is increasing rapidly. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1 million new cases of cancer are reported every year in India. The biggest thing is that this number is increasing continuously. According to the report of the National Library of Medicine, the highest rate of cancer cases has been found in the states of Northeast India. This especially includes Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. In these states, cancer cases have increased due to excessive use of tobacco and genetic reasons.
What the government report says
Some time ago, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-National Center for Disease Informatics and Research (NCDIR) released the National Cancer Registry Program Report 2020. In this report, it was estimated that 13.9 lakh cases of cancer will be reported in the year 2020 and according to the trend seen, these cases will increase to 15.7 lakh in the year 2025. Let us tell you, the government had released this report on the basis of 28 cancer registries based on population and 58 cancer registries of hospitals.
Death from cancer
According to the WHO report, there were about 14 lakh new cases of cancer in India in the year 2022. On the other hand, if we talk about the number of deaths due to cancer, it was 9.1 lakh. The most common cases in this were of breast cancer. At the same time, cases of oral cavity cancer, lip cancer and lung cancer were seen more in men. Talking about the whole world, according to the WHO report, in the year 2022, more than 2 crore new cases of cancer were reported all over the world. On the other hand, if we talk about the death figures, it was 97 lakh globally.
