The top leader of Pakistan has also celebrated the festival by tying a Rakhi on Raksha Bandhan. The population of Hindus in Pakistan is very less. Meanwhile, the festival of Raksha Bandhan was celebrated on Monday (August 19, 2024). People living in Pakistan, especially in the northwestern city of Peshawar and the southern city of Karachi, celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan with enthusiasm. On this occasion, a Hindu senator of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) tied a Rakhi to the party chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Krishna Kumari has also shared a video of herself tying a Rakhi to Bilawal Bhutto on the social media platform X. In the caption with the video, she wrote, ‘Happy Rakshabandhan. Thank you President Bilawal Bhutto.’ She also merged an audio with the video, in which it is heard – Deserts also turn green, when brothers stand with sisters.
Krishna Kumari also tagged Bilawal’s sisters Asifa Zardari and Bakhtawar B Zardari in this post. Krishna Kumari is a PPP senator from Tharparkar, Sindh. Before the festival of Rakshabandhan was celebrated on Monday, temporary shops were opened in the premises of many temples in the city to sell rakhis of different colors and designs. Along with rakhi, shopkeepers also sold other items used in worship.
The festival was celebrated amid tight security in Peshawar. In view of the festival, a large number of police forces were deployed around temples in the city and cantonment areas.
A large number of Hindu women and girls gathered at a temple in the city’s Jhanda Bazaar for worship in the morning and then preparations were made for the Aarti. After participating in the religious rituals, the women tied Rakhi to their brothers. According to Lahore-based TV channel ‘Bolda Punjab’, the festival was also celebrated at the old Krishna temple in Lahore.
