Mom used to work as a househelp
In Debina Banerjee’s podcast, Bharti Singh had told that her childhood was spent in a lot of struggle. Bharti said- Maybe I did not tell, I will tell you. My mother used to work in houses. Like we have a househelp in our house. I used to go with my mother and watch and he used to say do it from here Kamla. He used to make my mother work and I used to watch. I used to sit at the door and play with broken toys.
Bharti said- I am an unwanted child
Bharti further said that this is what got stuck in her mind that her mother works with a child. Bharti said- ‘After that I said that I will not trouble anyone. Because I had seen my mother. I am my mother’s child born by God. Mummy was alone and I was left alone. A midwife was called to cut the cord and she charged 60 rupees.’
‘I am a child worth Rs 60. I am an unwanted child. Mummy already had two children so she did not want a third one. She was not aware of it earlier but it happened. When Mummy came to know about the child and did not want it anymore, she would sit and mop the floors. She would take medicines, eat dates. But I had to come into this world and I came.’
