In Vitro Fertilization: What are the chances of sperm or egg mixing in IVF? Know the answer

In the process of in vitro fertilization (IVF), a woman’s eggs are mixed with a man’s sperm in a lab. During this process, eggs are removed from the ovaries and placed in a dish with sperm and nutrients. On average, 70% of the mature eggs are mixed with the sperm in the dish.

However, mix-ups can happen. For example, in 2012 a Singaporean mother sued a clinic because it allegedly mixed her husband’s sperm with another man’s. So it’s entirely possible that sperm or egg mixing can occur in IVF.

About 65% to 80% of eggs are fertilized in IVF. In some cases, such as male factor infertility, healthcare providers may inject sperm directly into the egg in a procedure called intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) to improve the chances of fertilization.

During in vitro fertilization (IVF), several different embryos are created from eggs and sperm. Embryologists then choose which embryo is most likely to lead to a successful pregnancy and transfer it to the patient.

Due to wrong lifestyle and eating habits, many types of problems occur in the body of women. One of them is problems related to pregnancy. When women are unable to conceive. IVF i.e. in vitro fertilization is used to solve these problems.
