India China Border Talks in Beijing On Eastern Ladakh LAC Border Dispute News Indian Army Chinese PLA


India-China Talks: India and China on Thursday (August 29) exchanged frank, constructive and visionary views on the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to reduce differences and find an early solution to pending issues. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that the 31st meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) was held in Beijing.

During the meeting, it was reiterated that restoration of peace and stability and respect for the LAC are essential basis for restoration of normalcy in bilateral relations. The statement said that in line with the guidance provided by the meetings of foreign ministers in Astana and Vientiane in July to accelerate the discussions and building on the WMCC meeting held last month, the two sides had a frank, constructive and visionary exchange of views.

Meeting held for early solution on India-China border

The meeting was held to reduce differences on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and find an early solution to pending issues. The Ministry of External Affairs said that they also agreed to contact through diplomatic and military channels for border resolution. Gauranglal Das, Joint Secretary (East Asia) of the Ministry of External Affairs, led the Indian delegation. The Chinese delegation was led by Hong Liang, Director General of the Department of Border and Ocean Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

India-China meeting was also held in Delhi

The statement said that meanwhile both sides decided to jointly maintain peace in the border areas in accordance with the relevant bilateral agreements, protocols and understandings between the two governments. The leader of the Indian delegation also met the Deputy Minister in the Chinese Foreign Ministry. The 30th meeting of the WMCC was held in New Delhi on 31 July.
