In which states has Chandipura virus spread?
Of these, 64 cases are of Chandipura virus (CHPV) infection. “CHPV is endemic in India and outbreaks have occurred regularly in the past. CHPV is a member of the Rhabdoviridae family and is known to cause sporadic cases and outbreaks of AES in western, central and southern parts of India, especially during the monsoon season.
In view of the previous cases, sporadic cases are being reported in many districts. In Gujarat, there is a rise in CHPV cases every four to five years. It is spread by vectors such as sandfly mosquito and tick. The CFR from CHPV infection is high (56-75 percent) and there is no specific treatment or vaccine available.

WHO said that the virus of Chandipura is already decreasing. But there is a need to be alert about it. This is because after the rain, the risk of the disease increasing due to mosquitoes and flies increases. Because it spreads rapidly. Samples of the infected are taken. Symptoms of Chandipura virus
The disease mostly affects children under 15 years of age and can be accompanied by fever that can lead to convulsions, coma, and in some cases, death. In children, it can cause high mortality within 48 to 72 hours of symptom onset, which is usually the case with AES.
