Zoya Akhtar raised questions on censorship

She said that she has grown up watching women being beaten up, exploited and even sexually harassed on screen. So it is okay to show all these things on screen, but kissing scenes are wrong. People should be allowed to see love and physical intimacy between two adults.
Zoya said that ‘the director has a different way of showing the story of every film. In such a situation, if we talk about Ramesh Sippy’s film ‘Sholay’, then whatever violence was shown there was way ahead of its time. So then what do you want to show to the audience and if we talk about cultural difference, then the French are far ahead of the Americans in nudity.
