In such a situation, the Indian Army has appointed a new Corps Commander for the 15 Corps based in Srinagar. At present, outgoing Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai will remain the Corps Commander in charge of the security of the Kashmir Valley and the Line of Control there on behalf of the Indian Army.

According to a report by news agency ANI, the Indian Army says that Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava has been appointed as the next Corps Commander of the Chinar Corps. Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava will take over his new charge from October 15, 2024.

Meanwhile, before moving to the Army Headquarters, Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava was commanding the National Rifles Force in the valley. Whereas, the current Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai will continue to be the commander of the corps in charge of the security of the Kashmir Valley and the Line of Control there on behalf of the Indian Army.

At the same time, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai has been approved to take over as the new Director General of Military Operations in place of Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma. Two Principal Staff Officers in Army Headquarters are retiring soon

Two important principal staff officers at the Army headquarters, including the Deputy Chief Strategy and Deputy Chief (Capability Development and Sustainment), are retiring on October 31. In the list of new postings released on July 22, several officers have already been sent to take over corps, such as the 3 Corps in Dimapur and the new Army War College Commandant.
