By inducting Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia into the party, Congress has actually made a move to woo the women, youth and Jat vote bank. The party is hoping that the sympathy atmosphere created in Haryana after the movement against the harassment of women wrestlers and then Vinesh’s performance in the Olympics and her unfortunate disqualification will be able to turn it in its favour.
In the last two elections, BJP got a large number of votes from youth and women in Haryana, due to which the party was successful in forming the government there. However, Vinesh and Bajrang joining the Congress has strengthened the allegations of BJP calling the wrestlers’ movement Congress-sponsored. It is also believed that Vinesh will also have to face questions from the players.
On the occasion of giving membership to Vinesh and Bajrang at the party headquarters, Congress had called a large number of women from Julana and Charkhi Dadri. The headquarters was continuously echoing with the slogans of these women. The women told Amar Ujala that they have come here only to support Vinesh because she has been the face of the fight against atrocities against women wrestlers. There are 95 lakh 12 thousand 574 women voters in the state and most of them have traditionally been BJP voters.
The party wants to woo women, youth and Jat vote bank through Vinesh
Congress was constantly giving importance to Vinesh… How much importance Congress is giving to Vinesh is evident from the fact that after her return from Paris, Congress MP Deepender Hooda made the long journey back to her village with Vinesh and Bajrang sitting on the bonnet of her car. Out of the two crore voters in the state, 95 lakh voters between the ages of 18 and 39 are young. They are considered to be an important factor in these elections. Out of these, 4.52 lakh voters will vote for the first time. Congress wants to win over this vote bank through Vinesh and Bajrang.
Impact on Jat votes
Vinesh belongs to the Jat community. Traditionally, this community votes for Congress, INLD and JJP. The way 26 Khaps of Haryana unitedly supported Vinesh during her return to India from Paris, Congress is hopeful that this time a large part of this community will vote for it. If Vinesh’s arrival makes any difference, it will be like a bonus for Congress.

On the other hand, BJP has also started speaking openly against Vinesh and Bajrang. Former Haryana Chief Minister and Union Minister Manohar Lal has already said that both these wrestlers were trapped in the cycle of politics and hence they protested. At the same time, senior Haryana BJP leader Anil Vij clearly said on both the wrestlers joining the Congress, Vinesh was earlier the daughter of the country but now if she has chosen to be the daughter of Congress, then who are we to object.
