Expansion
The entire state will be connected to the network of expressways. Work has started on five link expressways for this. Meerut will be connected to Jewar Airport through a link expressway. It has been decided to connect Purvanchal Expressway to Agra-Lucknow Expressway. Ganga Expressway is being connected to Agra-Lucknow e-way through Farrukhabad link expressway. There is a proposal to connect Chitrakoot Link Expressway to Bundelkhand Expressway. Ballia Link Expressway is also being constructed. The agency is preparing a detailed report (DPR).
Under the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the responsibility of expanding the expressways in the state lies with UPEIDA (Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority). According to UPEIDA, the Gorakhpur Link Expressway is almost ready. There are plans to open it by November-December. At the same time, the target has been given to start the Ganga Expressway before Prayagraj Kumbh.
A detailed action plan is being prepared for a 60 km link expressway to connect the Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Purvanchal Expressway. The Ganga Expressway being built from Meerut to Prayagraj will connect to the Agra-Lucknow Expressway near Etawah. Its length is about 92 km. After its construction, the travel time of people coming from Meerut to Prayagraj as well as Lucknow and other districts of Purvanchal will be reduced by three to four hours.
