In Purnia, a drunken husband beat his wife to death. As soon as the information of the incident was received, the police reached the spot and arrested the accused husband. Then the body was sent to Purnia GMCH for postmortem. The incident took place at Gunda Chowk in Sadar police station area of Purnia district. The deceased has been identified as Champa Devi (52), wife of Umesh Chaudhary, a resident of Chatra village in Dagarua police station area.
He often used to fight under influence of alcohol
Regarding the incident, the deceased’s son Sandeep Chaudhary said that his father used to beat his mother over petty issues while under the influence of alcohol. He came home drunk late last night too. He got into an argument with his wife over cooking. Soon he started beating her. When the accused was not satisfied with the beating, he killed her by beating her with bricks and bamboo in a drunken state. He left the house in the morning. Umesh Chaudhary works as a guard in a factory located at Gunda Chowk.
The father called his son and told him that he had killed his mother
The deceased’s son Sandeep Chaudhary told that his father Umesh Chaudhary called him on his mobile and told him that I have beaten your mother to death. As soon as he got the information about his mother’s murder, he reached the spot with his family members. His mother’s body was lying soaked in blood in the room. Bricks and bamboo were found thrown nearby, which had blood stains on them. Packets of country liquor and cigarettes were also recovered from the room. Police reached the spot after getting information about the incident and sent the body to the hospital for postmortem. According to the police, the accused husband often beat his wife under the influence of alcohol. Even late last night, he reached home in an inebriated state and had an argument with his wife over cooking food. During the argument, he started beating his wife and while beating her, he killed his wife Champa Devi.
