In Unnao, track repair work was started by taking a block of three and a half hours between Piparsand and Haroni railway stations. During this, the Lucknow-Kanpur rail route was disrupted. Barauni-Gwalior Express and MEMU were standing at Unnao station. Due to the disruption in the rail route, Kanpur-Lucknow MEMU Passenger was standing at Unnao Railway Station from 8 pm to 11 pm. Whereas, Gwalior-Barauni Express, which reached Unnao Railway Station at 10 pm, stood at the station for an hour. Passengers were troubled due to the trains being stopped. Many passengers got down from the train and left for their destination by other means.
The station master was nowhere to be seen during this time. RPF ASI Lalji told that a block was taken from 4 pm to 7:30 pm for track repair between Piparsand and Haroni stations of Lucknow. The work was not completed, so the block time was extended. Due to this, trains going from Kanpur to Lucknow and Lucknow to Kanpur remained stranded.
