According to the Daily Star News website, there is a Tana Toraja area in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. People of the Toraja tribe live here. These people consider even inanimate objects to be alive. They believe that whether it is a human or an animal, all of them have a soul and they should be respected. Because of this, these people do not bury their loved ones immediately after their death. They celebrate the death which happens after a few days. Till then, they collect money for it.

This festival is celebrated in August just before the sowing of crops. Its pictures are quite horrifying. These people take out the dead bodies from their graves. Then they bathe them and put on new clothes. They talk to them like living people, take photographs with them, prepare food and drinks for them, even give them cigarettes to smoke.

The bodies of people who have died recently are also kept in their homes for a few months. When the celebration takes place, people appear excited and also dance and sing. Animals ranging from buffaloes to pigs are sacrificed. The richer the person is, the more animals are sacrificed. Sometimes 100 pigs and 10 buffaloes are sacrificed. The meat of the animals is fed to the people who come to the celebration. You will be surprised to know that the bodies of small children are buried in hollow trees.
