India-Myanmar Border: The central government is very strict to stop intruders in Manipur. Under this, the central government has decided to fence the 1,643 km long India-Myanmar border, for which Rs 31,000 crore will be spent. This border is notorious for smuggling of arms, ammunition and drugs. Union Home Minister amit shah On Tuesday (September 17, 2024), the Indian Army said that the work of fencing a 30-km area to prevent cross-border infiltration has been completed.

Fencing work has already been completed in a stretch of about 10 km near Moreh in Manipur and fencing work is in progress on 21 km of the border in other areas of Manipur. The India-Myanmar border passes through Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.

The central government has already ended the India-Myanmar Free Movement (FMR) system. This system allowed people living near the border to travel up to 16 kilometers into each other’s territory without any documents. Sources said that the Home Minister is regularly reviewing the security situation in Manipur and necessary steps are being taken to restore peace.

Deployment of paramilitary forces in Manipur

This decision has been taken by the government to stop intruders in Manipur. Apart from this, two battalions of CRPF have also been permanently deployed in Manipur, while 20 thousand soldiers of central paramilitary forces have been deployed here. If government sources are to be believed, intruders from neighboring country Myanmar are entering Manipur.
