Appointment of 8 New High Court Chief Justices: The central government on Saturday (September 21) issued a notification regarding the appointment of Chief Justices in 8 High Courts. The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the names of Chief Justices for Delhi, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Meghalaya and Madras High Courts.
Regarding this, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal wrote on social media that using the powers conferred by the Constitution of India, the President is happy to appoint Chief Justices of the High Courts.

Giving information on social media, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said that Justice Manmohan, Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. Justice Rajiv Shakdhar, Judge of Delhi High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court. Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, Judge of Delhi High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court and Justice Indra Prasanna Mukherjee, Judge of Calcutta High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court.
Similarly, Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar, a judge of the Bombay High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. Acting Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court Tashi Rabstan has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
At the same time, Bombay High Court judge Justice Sriram Kalpana Rajendran has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Madras High Court. Apart from this, Himachal Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Justice MS Ramachandra Rao has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.
SC had asked the Center a question regarding the appointment of judges
Earlier on Friday (September 20), the Supreme Court had sought a reply from the Central Government regarding the appointment of judges. During this, the court had asked why the names sent again by the Collegium for the appointment of HC judges have not been approved yet.
