UPSC Success Story IAS Yashni Nagarajan she prepares for civil services along with job


Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) Success Story: It is often said that preparing for UPSC is a full-time job and if you want to become an IAS-IPS, you will have to study for 15-16 hours every day. But there is an IAS officer of Maharashtra cadre of 2019 batch who, by doing time management and choosing the right subjects, not only passed the exam while working in the Reserve Bank of India at that time but also secured the 59th rank all India. Meet IAS officer Yashni Nagarajan, who is currently serving as Additional Secretary on central deputation.

Completed early education from Kendriya Vidyalaya
Yashni did her early schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Naharlagun, Andhra Pradesh. After this, she completed her studies in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from National Institute of Engineering, Yupia in 2014. After completing her studies, she was selected as a Grade B officer in the Reserve Bank of India and she served there until she became an IAS.

Neither quit the job nor took leave
Yashni’s selection tells lakhs of youth that with the help of better time management, one can get success without leaving the current job. When Yashni started preparing for UPSC while working in RBI, many people advised her to leave the job, but the passion to achieve success on her own gave Yashni courage and she started preparing without taking any long study leave or leaving the job.

She used to give four to five hours after work
While working, she used to spend four to five hours preparing for exams after returning home from office. On government holidays, she used to study for twelve to fourteen hours. Yashni believes that better time management helps in facing the biggest challenges. She says that preparing while working reduces the stress related to exams and preparation. A job assures that there is no need to worry about career and helps you focus on your goal without stress.

Choose the topic with confidence in yourself
Yashni says that it is important to have confidence in yourself before preparing for the exam. Often people choose such subjects on the advice of others which pave the way for success for them but take you away from the goal. She told that in the beginning, she also chose the wrong subject and had to face initial failure. However, later the subject of her choice helped her to achieve her goal. She says that apart from optional subjects, essay and ethics papers can be better options to score more marks.
