The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.
In this election, BJP’s Janakbhai Talaviya defeated Virjibhai Thummar of INC by 29,274 votes in Lathi assembly seat of Amreli district. BJP candidate got 64,866 votes while Congress got 35,592 votes here. You are number three. Its candidate Jaisukhbhai Detroja got 26,643 votes, which was 20.17 percent of the total votes. The deposits of four candidates were forfeited. Whereas, NOTA got 2,040 votes.
Congress got victory in 2017
In the 2017 assembly elections, the Congress had fielded Virjibhai Thummar as its candidate from this seat. He defeated BJP’s Gopal Bhai by nine thousand votes. A total of 15 candidates were in the fray here. Apart from these two, the deposits of the remaining 13 candidates were forfeited. In the last assembly elections, four out of five seats in Amreli (Amreli, Rajula, Lathi and Sanwarkundla) were won by Congress candidates. At the same time, the BJP candidate was successful in winning one seat.
BJP got its first victory in 1995 elections
If you look at the old trends of this seat, then including this victory, this is the fifth victory of BJP. The party got its first victory in the 1995 elections. On the other hand, Congress has won in both the elections held before this election. After 1995, 1998, 2002 and 2007, BJP has won here in 2022. Whereas, Congress has won this seat a total of seven times. Congress candidates in Lathi have been successful in winning in 1962, 1967, 1972, 1980, 1985, 2012 and 2017. In 1975, the Kisan Mazdoor Lokpaksha and in 1990 the candidate of Janata Dal was successful in winning here.
