The natural form of Jit is Jiva. Jeet in the sense of good wishes means victory to you and may you be victorious. The natural form of Yut is Yuk, which in Hindi became Ju. Gradually this came to be called ‘G’. This is the reason why even today in many states like Rajasthan, UP, Uttarakhand, Jud is performed in front of the elders of the house.
‘Ji’ is spoken in every religion and state
The word ‘Ji’ is used in almost every state or religion. For example, Sikh members are collectively addressed as ‘Khalsa Ji’. Similarly, there are Maulvi ji, Pandit ji, Doctor ji, Master ji etc. Many people even use ‘yes’ and ‘yes’ to express agreement. In Tamil, ‘Tiru’ is used for men and ‘Tirumathi’ is used for married women. These are Tamil forms of ‘Shri’ and ‘Shrimati’. At many places, ‘Avargal’ and ‘Avaru’ are also used behind the name to show respect.
