Chhatarpur: A wonderful and historical well of Khomp village of Chhatarpur has become a center of attraction among the people. This is the same village which was also mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his “Mann Ki Baat” program. The biggest feature of this well is that there is no need of a rope or bucket to drink water. Even if you do not have these resources, you can quench your thirst by going down the stairs. This unique well is four generations old and still remains a source of water during summer.
Historical importance of the well:
This well of Khomp village was built by a Brahmin family of the village, who had no children. He not only built this well, but also built a temple along with it. Janaki Rajak, an elderly woman of the village, who is now 60 years old, says that she has seen this well since her childhood. This well was earlier the main source of water for the people of the village, and children, elders, and women used to come here to draw water. Now, although water facilities are available in every household, this well remains under repair as a historical and cultural heritage.
Special attractions for people:
The most unique thing about this well is its arrangement of stairs, which allows people to reach the water without rope and bucket. Even during the summer season, when the water level goes down, people can easily go down and fetch water with the help of the stairs of this well. The people of the village consider this well as their heritage and take special care of it. The people of the village tell that earlier water was taken from this well and offered to the temple, and school children also used to drink water from here.

Now that homes have access to water, the use of wells has reduced, but it still remains a topic of discussion among the people.
