The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.

BJP’s Pradumna Waza defeated Maheshbhai Makwana of INC by 19,386 votes in Kodinar assembly seat in Gir Somnath district. BJP candidate got 77,794 votes while Congress got 58,408 votes here. You are number three. Its candidate Valajibhai Makwana got 10,738 votes, which was only 7.09 percent of the total votes. Means, you candidate could not even save his deposit here. The deposits of two other candidates were also forfeited. Whereas, NOTA got 2,025 votes.

Congress got victory in 2017

The Congress had won the Kodinar seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, Congress had made Mohanlal Vala its candidate from this seat. He defeated BJP’s Rambhai Wadher by 14,000 votes. A total of six candidates were in the fray here. Apart from these two, the deposits of the other four candidates were forfeited.

Congress lost here after return

From 1995 to 2012, the BJP had won five consecutive elections on this seat. However, the party was defeated by the Congress in the 2017 elections. This time again the BJP has made a comeback by registering a victory here. On the other hand, in the 2009 by-election, the Congress wrested this seat from the BJP. However, the BJP retained the seat in the 2012 assembly elections. Janata Dal had won here in 1990. At the same time, before 2017, Congress got a chance to win the Kodinar seat in the 1985 assembly elections.
