The Food and Supplies Department has completed preparations to provide free cylinders to 1.86 crore families on Diwali. The state government gives this gift to the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme every year on Holi and Diwali.
The price of the cylinder will be reimbursed to the beneficiaries whose accounts will be Aadhaar certified as soon as they purchase it. According to sources in the Food Department, the accounts of about 1.25 crore beneficiaries are Aadhaar certified. These beneficiaries will have to purchase the cylinders by making payment, within three-four days the concerned oil companies will send the amount to their accounts. As soon as the accounts of the remaining beneficiaries get Aadhaar certified, the amount will be replenished in their accounts.
For this, the state government has given 50 percent amount as advance to the oil companies. When 75 percent of this amount will be utilized, the remaining amount will also be released after getting its utilization certificate. Instructions have been given to link the bank accounts of beneficiaries with Aadhaar by running a campaign in all the districts.
