Why was the living place of royal women called a harem?

Royal women and maids lived in the harem. Only the king was allowed to enter the harem. Apart from this, no other man could join the religion. And this was the reason why the responsibility of security and care in the harem was not given to men but to eunuchs.

Why was this place called harem? If we find out about this, the story is that the word Haram is derived from the Arabic word Haram. Which means forbidden. Because men were prohibited from going there. And this was the reason why the living place of royal women was called harem.

Started from Ottoman Empire

If we talk about the beginning of the harem, the first mention of it is found in the year 1299. When Osman Ghazi started the Ottoman Empire. It was also called the Ottoman Empire. Eunuchs were deployed here for security.
