The first name is that of Bhupendra Singh Hooda, who has been the Chief Minister of Congress before also. Other names ranging from Kumari Selja to Randeep Surjewala also came up. It has also been said that this time Bhupendra Singh Hooda will give up his claim and hand over his chair to his son Deependra Hooda. But nothing was decided till the last moment. Yes, it has been decided that whether it is Kumari Selja or Deependra Hooda or Randeep Surjewala, those who are MPs will not contest the elections.
When Bhupendra Hooda got the chair instead of Bhajanlal
So in this respect, the natural claim is of Bhupendra Hooda only. But Bhupendra Hooda also remembers that history when the natural claimant was Bhajan Lal, but instead of Bhajan Lal, that chair was given to Bhupendra Hooda and at that time the high command meant only Sonia Gandhi. In fact, Congress had a bumper victory in the 2005 assembly elections. And then Congress had won 67 out of 90 seats.
At that time, Bhajan Lal was in high praise in Haryana Congress. So it was almost certain that Bhajan Lal would become the Chief Minister. But at the last moment, Sonia Gandhi announced the name of Bhupendra Hooda in place of Bhajanlal. Bhupendra Hooda became the Chief Minister and Bhajan Lal, who had become the Chief Minister of Haryana thrice, was sidelined in the party.
Bhajanlal formed his own party
Later Bhajanlal formed his own party. Named Haryana Janhit Congress. Also caused considerable loss to Congress. But not so much that Congress faces any problem in winning the 2009 assembly elections. However, son Kuldeep Vishnoi joined BJP and is still there. But the Congress high command knows that as of today, Bhupendra Hooda is at least not Bhajanlal. Bhajan Lal had caused a little damage to Congress, but if Bhupendra Hooda gets angry then Congress is sure to be in trouble. Because in the exit poll, most of the seats which Congress is seen winning are from the Bhupendra Hooda camp and the reason for this is that even though Bhupendra Hooda’s name was not declared as the Chief Minister in this election, but whom? Bhupendra Hooda has decided from where to get the tickets.
Will the Congress high command play?
In such a situation, Hooda’s claim is strong, but from the point of view of the high command, there are two more leaders closest to the Gandhi family. And in this, Kumari Selja is at the first position, who says that Congress cannot ignore my extensive experience and my unwavering loyalty towards the party. Rest is Surjewala, who has repeatedly said that there is nothing wrong in having the ambition of becoming Chief Minister. But there is another leader, who may not be discussed, but is also in the race. And his name is Udaybhan, who is the President of Haryana Congress.
What is more important is that he belongs to the same camp as Bhupendra Hooda, so as the Dalit face of the Chief Minister, Bhupendra Hooda can also agree on the name of Udaybhan instead of Kumari Selja so that after Ashok Tanwar joins Congress, Kumari Udaybhan should completely stop whatever brakes have been put on Selja’s ambitions. So that no one can challenge Deependra Hooda’s claim in the coming time. The rest is politics. No one knows when and on which side she will sit.
