Such a trend is currently being seen in the western area of Indonesia named Puncak. Tourists from Middle East come here in good numbers and they are doing such short term marriages.
The bride can be found for Rs 40 thousand
According to the report, male tourists coming to the hill resort of Kota Banga in Indonesia are introduced to rural women through an agency. When both parties are ready for a short-term marriage, a small informal wedding is organized. During this, the groom has to give some money as dowry to his bride. After this their marriage continues till the husband’s trip ends there. As long as he stays here, his wife stays with him and as soon as she leaves, the marriage ends.
A girl does 10-15 marriages
This type of temporary marriage is known as pleasure marriage. According to the Los Angeles Times, such weddings boost tourism and the economy. One such woman who became a bride told that she has been doing this work since the age of 17 and till now she has had 15 husbands, all of whom were from the Middle East. The agents who organize such marriages take half of the bride money and the girl gets half the amount. It can range from Rs 40 thousand to Rs 80 thousand.
