Justin Trudeau Meet PM Modi: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met his Indian counterpart during the ASEAN Summit in Laos. Narendra Modi After which he said that there are some real issues which need to be resolved. Trudeau said he would not elaborate on the conversation he had with PM Modi, but he has said several times that the government has a responsibility to maintain the safety of Canadians and the rule of law and he will pay attention to it.
This conversation by the Canadian PM took place a year after the Canadian PM accused the Indian government of involvement in the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. This is the second meeting between Trudeau and PM Modi in September 2023. Earlier, Trudeau had given a statement in the House of Commons that Canada is investigating allegations linking India to the death of the terrorist.
India’s response to Trudeau’s remarks
India has also responded to the comments made by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Quoting sources, India said that the country hopes that anti-India Khalistani activities will not be allowed to take place on Canadian soil and strict action will be taken against those advocating violence, extremism and terrorism against India from Canadian soil. Which has not been done till now. The growing nexus of such forces with organized crime, drug syndicates and human trafficking should be a matter of concern for Canada as well.
When will relations improve?
India values relations with Canada, but unless the Government of Canada takes strict and verifiable action against those who actively carry out anti-India activities and incite hatred in India as well as in Canada, Unless they conspire to promote misinformation, communal disharmony and violence, they cannot be rectified.
