Senior journalist and social worker died in a road accident. Till late night, there was a steady stream of people consoling the house of Manoj Shukla and Avinash Dubey.

The entire district was in mourning due to the demise of senior journalist and social worker Manoj Shukla and veteran of politics and education field Avinash Dubey in a road accident in Fatehpur. There was a constant stream of consolers in the houses of both the people till late night. Senior historian Dr. Suman Shukla Vajpayee says that Manoj Shukla had given recognition to the great poet Ghagh. Ghagh’s proverbs are famous all over the world. He had launched an ideological movement to make his birthplace Ghaghnagar. Presently Chaudhary Sarai Mohalla is situated there. Every year he also gave grand honours.

Manoj Shukla, son of renowned litterateur and former principal of PSM Degree College, Dr. Jeevan Shukla, resident of Dharam Dham in Mohalla Gwal Maidan of the city, was the editor of Kannauj weekly newspaper and also a keen social worker. At the same time, Avinashchandra Dubey, resident of Makarandnagar, was the manager of Gomti Devi Girls Inter College and was also the senior vice president in the District Congress Committee. Apart from this, he was also a member of the State Congress Committee. Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shyama Charan Shukla and former Union Minister Vidya Charan Shukla, BSP National General Secretary Satishchandra Mishra are his uncles. Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi had also visited Avinash Dubey’s Kothi Surya Niwas during the non-cooperation movement in 1942. Avinash Dubey’s father Pt. Murlidhar Dubey had brought Mahatma Gandhi from Farrukhabad in his Daz car, which is still standing at his residence.
