After the Test match between India and Bangladesh could not be played for two and a half days due to rain, efforts have started to improve the drainage system of Green Park. Even though there was no rain that day, the game was not played because the field was not dry. The reason for this was the drainage system in a small part of the stadium only. In this regard, after a joint meeting of the administration, UPCA and the sports department on October 7, UPCA decided to install a drainage system similar to the stadium being built in Ekana, Lucknow or Varanasi. After the decision taken in the meeting to build a three-storey spectator gallery, architects from Delhi, Varanasi and Lucknow are being contacted for its construction. The capacity of the proposed three-storey gallery is estimated to be around 26000 people. After its construction, the Green Park capacity will be around 42000. However, the actual capacity of the three-storey gallery will be known only after the architect submits the proposal.
