Sweet beginnings and struggles
Bhagchand Aggarwal tells that when his artisan Prahlad Singh gave the idea of ’Ras Rose’, there were a lot of challenges in making it in the beginning. 35 to 40 liters of milk got spoiled several times, and a lot of loss was incurred during repeated experiments. But the hard work of the artisan paid off and ultimately a wonderful sweet was created. In the preparation of Ras Roz, boiling milk is specially boiled at 100 degrees and powdered saffron is added. After this, vanilla ice cream and dry fruits are added in the cooled state, which gives a unique taste to this dessert.
Only two places in the country make Ras Roz sweet.
The taste of this sweet, which is made only in Khandwa and Cuttack, is so special that people send it to different parts of the country. An official of Khandwa’s power plant buys 100 to 200 cans at a time and takes it to Delhi, from where his relatives send it to cities like Punjab, Haryana and Ludhiana. People of Delhi often complain that despite being the capital of sweets, why ‘Ras Roz’ is not available there. The specialty of this sweet and the process of making it is so special that it is almost impossible to copy it anywhere else.
Taste and unique experience
Sarthak Agarwal, younger son of Bhagchand Agarwal, the founder of Agarwal Mishthan Bhandar, says that his customers earlier used to enjoy Rasmalai and Rabdi, but they wanted something new. Understanding this need, he urged his artisans to create something new. With this thinking, ‘Ras Rose’ was created, which proved to be a new gift for sweet lovers.
Today ‘Ras Rose’ Its popularity has spread to cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Amritsar. However, its real taste is found only in Khandwa and Cuttack. There were many attempts to copy it outside these two cities, but no sweet could give the same wonderful taste as the one found in Agarwal Mishtan Bhandar of Khandwa.
