A couple from Pindarthu village of Sikandra police station area died after being hit by an intercity train going from Kanpur to Jhansi late on Wednesday night near Mandi Mod railway crossing of Kasba on the Kanpur-Jhansi railway route. On getting information the family members also reached the spot. The police started investigation by sending both the bodies for post-mortem.

Som Shukla (36), resident of Pindarthu of Sikandra police station area, used to work in a car showroom located in Bhoganipur. Her in-laws house is in Raigawan of Bhoganipur police station area. Late on Wednesday night, Som Shukla and his wife Shweta Shukla collided with an intercity train going from Kanpur to Jhansi at some distance from Mandi Mod railway crossing in Pukhrayan town. Their bodies were found lying near pillar number 1288/15-16 on the railway track. Meanwhile, car agency employee Awadhesh Kumar reached there, identified the body as that of a fellow employee and informed the family about the incident. Ragwan resident Munna Dwivedi and his nephew Shivam along with other in-laws and family members reached the spot. GRP outpost in-charge Pukhrayan Arvind Yadav said that prima facie there seems to be a possibility of the couple committing suicide. Action will be taken in the matter after the post-mortem is conducted.
