Aditya Anand/Godda: A video of Kusmi village of Mahagama block of Godda district is going viral on social media. In which some elderly people of the village are seen removing snake venom from a woman’s body in a traditional manner. It is seen in this video that the woman is being made to sit on the platform of the village and her feet are being dusted with neem leaves. Along with this, mantras are also being chanted.

Local 18 visited the village to fact-check the incident. Information was received from the villagers that this practice of extracting snake venom has been going on in the village for centuries. Till now many people have been successfully treated with this method. The woman seen in the video, Sulkhi Devi, said she was bitten by a snake while working in a paddy field on Thursday. He informed this to Upendra Yadav, who called the elders of the village and started this traditional treatment.

Treatment with mantras of Maa Vishahari
Upendra Yadav of the village claims that till now he has poisoned hundreds of people through traditional methods. They say that by looking at the hand of a snake bitten person, he can find out what kind of snake has bitten him. After that, according to that particular snake, treatment is done with Neem leaves and mantras of Maa Vishahari. The medicinal properties present in neem twigs are helpful in eliminating snake venom.

advised to send to hospital immediately
However, Upendra Yadav also said that if a person is bitten by a highly venomous snake, it is advisable to send him to the hospital immediately. The woman Sulkhi Devi, who was recently bitten by a snake, told Local 18 that after this traditional treatment, she is now completely healthy.
