The festival of Chhath will be celebrated as soon as the Diwali holidays are over. This festival is celebrated mainly in Bihar. School holiday has already been announced in Bihar. This year, Chhath Puja will start on November 7 at 12:41 am on the Shashthi date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month and will end on November 8 at 12 am. On Chhath Puja, schools will remain closed for four days from October 6 to October 9.

Chhath Puja is one of the major festivals of Bihar, which is also called the great festival of folk faith. Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya are worshiped during Chhath Puja. Nahay Khay and Kharna are important parts of this festival. The order of Chhath Puja is something like this, Nahay Khay (first day), Kharna (second day), Sandhya Arghya (third day), Usha Arghya and Paran (fourth day).
Kharna has special significance in Chhath festival. Women fasting on this day make jaggery-rice kheer on a new earthen stove and offer it to Chhathi Maiya. After this it is accepted as Prasad. After Kharna, Nirjala fast starts till sunrise and sunset. This fast is one of the important parts of Chhath Puja, which is a symbol of devotion and reverence.
