Know the price of this sweet

Sweet artisan Ashok Kumar has shared his simple and authentic recipe for Soan Papdi sweet, which you can easily make at home. The price of Sonpapadi in the market is Rs 500 per kg, but by making it at home, you can not only enjoy its purity but can also make it as per your choice.

Learn how to make Soan Papdi at home

Confectioner Ashok Kumar told that first of all 250 grams of ghee has to be heated in the pan. Add 250 grams of fine gram flour in hot ghee and fry the gram flour well on low flame. Keep stirring the gram flour continuously so that no lumps form in it and its color becomes golden. When the gram flour starts giving out a nice smell and turns golden, remove it from the flame and keep it to cool.

In another pan, add 300 grams or 200 grams sugar and 1 cup water and cook it on medium flame. Cook the syrup until it reaches the consistency of one string. Once the sugar syrup is ready, add cardamom powder to it and mix well. Now add sugar syrup to the roasted gram flour and mix this mixture well.

Keep these things in mind

Keep in mind that while adding the syrup, keep stirring the mixture immediately. So that the gram flour gets the proper layered texture. After this, when the mixture cools down, spread it on a smooth surface and stretch it. Repeat this process again and again. So that light layers are formed in the mixture.

Mix cashew-almonds to make it tasty

Now pour the mixture in a tray and decorate with chopped almonds and pistachios on top. Let it set well and then cut it into your desired shape.
Your flaky and pure sonapapdi is ready. Besides, the taste of this sweet made at home is much better than the Sonpapri of the market and it is also beneficial from health point of view. On this festival, enjoy making Soan Papdi at home and feed it to your loved ones too.
