Tamban, a builder by profession, used to make a girl from the same city his wife, wherever he started building a house. The matter came to light when Tamban performed his 120th marriage with a woman named Phone, 27 years younger to him. Tamban had done all these marriages illegally, because polygamy i.e. more than one marriage is illegal in Thailand. This person named Tamban Prasert has also been the chief of Phromni district of Nakon Nayok province of Thailand, which is about 90 kilometers away from the capital Bangkok. When news of his marriage started appearing in the local media, this man had to admit that he had done more than 100 marriages illegally. Tamban had told the media, ‘Yes, I have 120 wives and 28 sons and daughters. When I was 17 years old, I got married for the first time to a woman 2 years younger than me. After marriage we both had 3 children. But after this many women came into my life. Wherever I started my construction work, I used to meet many girls who were younger than me in connection with the work. In such a situation, I would marry someone. I don’t like older women because they argue a lot.

During the conversation, Tamban then made another surprising claim. He said that my wives have no problem with such simple marriages. I fulfill all the needs of my family. He has also built houses for many of his wives. I love them all and they all love me too. Of these, 22 wives live near Tamban’s house in Phromani district, while the rest live in other places in Thailand. Pragert further said that it has never been difficult for me to take care of 120 wives and 28 children. However, polygamy is illegal in Thailand.
